Through Life Support Planning

For many complex systems, the cost of operating and supporting the capability exceeds the initial acquisition cost by a factor of two or more.

Good through-life support planning is therefore essential to maximising the benefits of your design or acquisition project. Could, for instance, a little extra effort at the design or production phase save you more in maintenance or spares?

Nova’s team is experienced at the integration of technical systems into existing operations and support infrastructure. We can help you with optimising current system support arrangements, as well as looking ahead and developing your Logistics Support Plan covering performance measurement, training, spares support, maintenance and through-life upgrades.

Nova engineers are embedded within a number of Defence Through Life Support (TLS) System Program Offices (SPO) across Air/Land/Sea & Space groups which directly effects TLS planning activities.  Our Nova engineers within these SPO’s have Engineering Authority ranging from Senior Design Engineers (SDE) through to Logistic Engineers.  To maximise our effort within these TLS SPOs Nova complies with customer engineering management processes and procedures.  Some of our recent successes cover:

• the expansion of the operating role of the ARH Tiger reconnaissance Helicopter
• increase in operational carriage of cargo and medical equipment for the C-17
• System Communication Integration and Support within the Space SPO
• as well as many other achievements over the last 10 years for Sea /Land and Air.

Selected Nova engineers within the TLS SPOs provide mentoring to ADF Uniformed and Australian Public Service (APS) staff covering Program Management through to Engineering support activities.  Nova has also provided mentoring and guidance to TLS SPOs on Life Cycle Costing which did result in increased capability at reduced operating costs.
